The Women of Excellence Ministry under the oversight of Pastor Donna Barber provides women with specific opportunities to serve the church family through their own God-given interests, talents, skills, and abilities with the result that each can experience personal growth and fulfillment. It is financially self-supporting and finds many avenues to bless others. The desire of the ministry is to equip women to serve others and to have personal service extended to them as well.
It endeavors to make the “House of God” also a “Home for the Family of God” where common, necessary, and menial needs are met in a congenial, loving atmosphere of comfort and beauty. Women are provided with special social and educational opportunities which serve them and their unique needs as individual women. It is guided by a council of six women who are prayerfully selected for appointment by the Women’s Ministries Administrator, and who covenant to serve a one or two year term.
With so many events within the church needing volunteers, the ministry ensures that no one woman or small group of women is overworked. The ministry endeavors to limit one major responsibility per person, therefore spreading opportunities for blessing others among the many women involved. Women also enjoy the opportunity to be trained for new areas of service in order that each position in the Women’s Ministry will have backup people to smoothly accommodate those areas when individuals are released from areas of leadership after their time of covenant has been fulfilled.

Opportunities for Blessing
Three major events are under girded by the Women of Excellence ministry. The annual Women of Worth Convention occurs in the beginning of April. Top of the line ministry is brought in to minister to women who convene for one weekend of receiving the Word of God in due season as well as fun, food, and fellowship. Women from other churches are hosted in homes of covenant church members and are treated like royalty. The entire weekend is an opportunity to set an example of servant hood to women of all faiths.
The annual event for youth from all over Tennessee is hosted by Good News Worship Center of Lexington. The all day event is held the last Saturday of June at Beech Lake and is called Generation 1000. See the event at www.generation1000.com . The women’s ministry plays an integral part in ministering free food and drinks to thousands of people each year. It is here that the redemptive and evangelistic arm of the local church is demonstrated through participation with a servant’s heart and a desire to serve with a spirit of excellence.
The third event is the annual Unity Convention held in September where churches are encouraged to come together and seek the face of God. Great women and men of God have preached at this greatly anticipated convention. Families come from as far as Canada to enjoy the weekend where once again, families are hosted by covenant members and women play a major role in helping the convention run smoothly.
Fellowship Opportunities
Quarterly the women have a “women’s night out” where they meet at the church and head to a place to eat out and do an activity or two or three! It gives a chance to fellowship with other women without children or husbands – and to be just women. These activities have included going to the movies, shopping, go-cart racing, playing putt-putt golf, and bowling.
Each year Pastor Donna selects a fall retreat with a covenant church for the Women of Excellence to go and be ministered to and to have the luxury of fellowshipping with other women from area churches for an entire weekend and hearing great women of God bring the Word.
Throughout the year women who want to participate in the “Secret Sister Society”. Women are prayerfully matched to another woman whom they are to bless each year by prayer, cards, gifts, etc. The year culminates on the first weekend in December at the Women’s Banquet, which is held at the church. It is at this banquet where Christmas gifts are exchanged and Secret Sister identities are revealed.
A Message from Pastor Donna
My heart's desire is to minister to the spirit. soul, and body of every woman of God. Young or old, rich, or poor, you all matter and have a special place in the heart of God. I feel it my pleasure to help anyone find their place and then empower them to flourish in their calling. It is with this in mind that I extend an invitation to you to come and be with us every third Thursday at 7pm for a night of enlightenment in the Word of God as well as wonderful fellowship with other women of God.
