Stand Up and Stand Out

E-mail Print PDF

Headed up by Brian Parker, this ministry is relatively new and growth is not only expected, but is happening. The desire is to see men from all walks of life come together in unity to strengthen and encourage one another to be the men that God has called them to be. God wants Himself to be manifested through His people in the home, at work, and wherever He has strategically placed them.

The ministry motto is “Stand Up and Stand Out”. God’s plan is for men to stand up with integrity and a clear direction from God, therefore they will stand out in their community as unique individuals. The power of covenant between other men is a vital concept among this group. Men are to be strengthened collectively as well as individually. To be able to stand with others to achieve goals ordained of the Lord is a show of true strength.
It is with this in mind that one of the main objectives of the ministry is to help men learn their position in their homes as well as their community. Through the Word of God it is clear that a man who guides his house with direction from the Lord, and support from others who do the same, will set the foundation for a culture governed by God. This is truly Kingdom living. It is the heartbeat of this House that family is not only valued, but treasured. A ministry can only be as strong as the family units within it.

Fellowship Among the Brethren

In the spring of the year, men from many churches attend the annual “Men and Boys Campout” held at Pickwick State Park. Boys and young men have the opportunity to fish, play golf, and camp with men from the local fellowship. It is a great way for the next generation to enjoy themselves in an environment that promotes growth in a positive attitude toward fellowship among the brethren. In the summer of the year is the men’s campout.
Once a year we also have our men’s retreat. This is where men from many different churches gather together to worship the Lord and fellowship with one another. In years past, it has been held in lower Kentucky. Teaching and preaching to the hearts of men evokes a rested, challenged, and fulfilled man who is indwelt by the presence of God and built up in the Lord.

On the last Saturday of every June, the men are highly involved in an event called Generation 1000. It is centered around evangelism and fellowship with other churches and youth groups in West and Middle Tennessee. The event in the summer of 2004 had over 1,000 participants.

Each month men get together for a men’s meeting which are held on the first Saturday of each month. The meeting starts at 6:00 pm and is held at the church unless otherwise prearranged and stated on the church calendar.
